Judy Acheson is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a master’s degree in Community Counseling from Slippery Rock University. She has extensive experience working with trauma, addiction, self-harm and eating disorders, with a focus on women’s issues. Judy utilizes many different therapeutic approaches with all clients, some of which include, cognitive behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Solution focused, and strength-based. She views the therapeutic relationship as the foundation to finding a solution to client's issues and believes that safety and trust must be created.   She has been a Department of Human Services (DHS), Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ), Champion since 2014. Being an LTBGQ Champion consists of quarterly trainings and educational meetings to best serve the LGBTQ client. Judy also actively educates other clinical and social service individuals regarding inclusion and disparities within the LGBTQ community.
