Dr. Cristiana White, PhD, LCSW

Dr. Cristiana Perez White is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Pennsylvania and a Professional School Counselor. For the past 14 years she has been employed in the public school system. The first 2 years for Intermediate Unit 1 as a School Social Worker in their Emotional Support Classroom at Burgettstown Junior and Senior High School and at Avella Elementary School. She has been working the past 12 years as an Elementary School Counselor for the Aliquippa School District. Dr. White has over 10 years of experience in a variety of settings (Hospital Social Worker, Infant Mental Health Specialist, and Psychotherapist) with diverse clients, using a variety of theoretical perspectives for individual, family, and group interventions. She has had the opportunity to develop and implement nurturing parenting programs for children at high risk of abuse and neglect, and family and children affected by a life threatening illness, to help enhance parent-infant relationships. Dr. White has earned her BS in Psychology from the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, her Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI, and recently completed her Doctorate (PhD) in Counseling Education and Supervision CACREP accredited, and attained Elementary and Secondary Teaching Certificates both at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In order to better hone her family therapy skills, she has completed a year training in infant mental health taught by Barry Wright, PhD/Ap. at the Grand Rapids Child Guidance Clinic, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and completed a three year (54 days) training in family based mental health and family therapy through the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC)- UPMC Health System, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. White is certified in Yoga for the Special Child through the Sonia Summar’s approach, a therapeutic approach for infants and children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Learning Disabilities. Certified yoga for the special child: a therapeutic approach for infants and children with down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities with Sonia Summar. Skills: One year Infant Mental Health training. She is certified in Yoga for the special child. During the past 12 years she has been working as an Elementary School Counselor with the Aliquippa School District.
