Zia Cook-Andres, LSW
Zia Cook-Andres is a Licensed Social Worker. Zia earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. She went on to earn her Master of Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh in 2018. She is passionate about working with children, adolescents, teens, transition age youth and their families. Zia has experience working with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disorders, trauma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety , and disruptive behavior disorders. Zia believes in utilizing a strength-based method that focuses on viewing the individual as a whole. She thinks the foundation of any therapeutic relationship is empathy, warmness, and unconditional positive regard. Zia uses a variety of therapeutic modalities and evidenced-based treatment such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, motivational interviewing and structural family therapy. Above all else, she believes in advocating for her clients. She believes each person that walks through the door has a remarkable story to tell. Zia gives clients space and the freedom to utilize their voice, emotions, and behaviors to share their story.
