Daniel Bourne, Psy.D., is a psychology resident committed to fostering meaningful change through evidence-based psychotherapy. He earned his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) from Regent University’s APA-accredited program and currently practices under the supervision of Lindsey Venesky, Ph.D. Dr. Bourne provides individual, couples, and family therapy, conducts comprehensive psychological assessments, and engages in ongoing professional development to enhance his clinical practice.
Dr. Bourne’s therapeutic approach integrates a psychodynamic understanding with evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Specializing in relational psychotherapy, he emphasizes the co-created nature of the therapeutic relationship, meeting clients where they are, understanding their unique worldviews, and adapting to their evolving needs. This depth fosters self-awareness, aids in resolving inner struggles, and promotes lasting psychological growth rooted in authentic connection, avoiding superficial or one-size-fits-all solutions. His background in a faith-based upbringing and education allows him to integrate faith and spirituality with psychology, and he is pleased to have facilitated workshops with churches addressing trauma, mental health, and marital conflict from a Christian perspective.
Dr. Bourne most recently completed his doctoral internship with the Dayton VA Medical Center, where he delivered evidence-based therapies to veterans in substance abuse and mental health programs, co-facilitated a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills group for LGBTQ+ veterans, and conducted psychological assessments. His diverse clinical experience spans private practice, psychiatric hospitals, churches, high schools, and student counseling centers, reflecting his versatility and commitment to serving varied populations.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Dr. Bourne served primarily in Okinawa, Japan, from 2009 to 2013. Now settled in Pittsburgh with his wife and children, he is captivated by the city’s unique character and charm, and he is thrilled to contribute to the community’s well-being.
