Most mental and behavioral health issues are first seen by primary care doctor (PCP) but this can be problematic for PCP’s because they often don’t have the time to treat a mental or behavioral health issue. Additionally, many primary care docs don’t know exactly how to screen or diagnose mental health issues appropriately. As a result, individuals with mental health issues do not always get the behavioral and mental health services they need. NPR recently ran a story about these issues and how to address them using technology. The Cognitive Behavior Institute was highlighted as part of the of its story speaking from a behavioral mental health perspective. The Cognitive Behavior Institute uses evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to implement mental health care as it has been shown to be effective in treating most mental health issues as well as improving one’s experiences and management of chronic disease.
