Brian Rainey is pursuing his masters in professional counseling from Carlow University and comes to CBI with a desire to focus on family, couples, individuals, and groups. After working in the corporate world for 25 years and feeling like he had another purpose in life, a mid-life career decision has propelled him to serve others. As a result, Brian brings years of life experience and insight, plus humility and acceptance that there is more to learn. He is eager and curious to discover the “why” in client thoughts and behavior. He looks forward to working with adult clients, building their self-awareness of maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors, healthy strivings that guide and drive decision-making, and understanding family of origin influences. One of his primary goals for the internship with CBI is to experience what things look like for clients, including diagnostic presentation, comorbidity, communication style, readiness for change, and cultural variance.
